SouthLake Church is blessed to be led by Harrison Spitler & Peter Scheidt, both of whom, love Jesus and love people. Ordained by the Presbyterian Church in America, they are not only passionate about teaching God’s Word but also about reaching the Lake Norman community and being the hands and feet of Christ to those with a need.
Dr. Harrison Spitler has a deep passion to know Christ Jesus and to see others know Him intimately to the point that the love and joy of Christ becomes infectious.
Harrison was born in Montgomery, Alabama and grew up on Lake Martin in the eastern part of the state. He did not grow up in a home where Christ was celebrated or church attendance allowed. But soon after he began attending Auburn University, he surrendered to Christ. After graduating with a degree in Organizational Management, Harrison spent 13 years in business, the last six of those while earning his Master of Divinity at Birmingham Theological Seminary. Harrison completed his Doctor of Ministry from Covenant Theological Seminary in 2008 with an emphasis on Church Planting and Revitalization.
The Spitlers served in France with Mission to The World as part of a church planting team. Following their return from France, Harrison served at First Presbyterian Church of Montgomery as the Senior Pastor and in 2002 the Spitlers moved to South Charlotte to plant Grace Community Church. In addition to his ministry within Southlake Church, Harrison spends time promoting adoption and church planting.
Harrison has been married to the love of his life, Sandy for 30 wonderful years. They have 7 children and a granddaughter.
In Harrison’s spare time, you might find him pruning roses, xxxx, hanging out with his dogs, or spending quality time with his family.
